Last week, I sadly ended a partnership for creating and putting on an event. Why? Because of the Drama Triangle.

After I invited a third person to help my partner and me develop this program, friction arose. It soon became clear that as long as one person felt persecuted — and who this was could shift — that we couldn’t move forward.

I thought it might help you to learn more about this dynamic, too.

Dr. Stephen Karpman developed the idea of the Drama Triangle in 1968. It was originally intended to help professionals doing individual, group and family therapy.

Guess what? We see it just as often at work!

Watch for the roles that you play — and how you keep this going or choose to end it.
