I remember the first time I heard about the second type of person who says “no” to you at work: Dead Weight Danny.

My mother was the chief of the Midwest Property Division for the Department of Defense.

She had a job open up, interviewed candidates, and hired a woman who had received a glowing recommendation from her former supervisor.

Then the woman parked herself at her new desk and proceeded to complain as much and do as little as possible.

My mother called someone in this woman’s former department to ask for any insights on how to work with her.

The response was chilling: “We gave her a great recommendation because we wanted to get her out of our department.”

This short video talks about how to identify any Dead Weight Dannies that show up in your area. Then use the suggestions on the best ways to get them motivated or to move on.
